family 436

The coloring of this card is a little off in the lighting...it's actually a dark magenta. I love to emboss paper...it just adds so much character to the cards. I started with a cream cardstock, embossed the magenta paper, layered it on and the found the letters ,spelled out DAD and card was done!

CAS challenge 184

I love CAS challenges! It sometimes gets you to think out of the box. For this challenge I used white cardstock...cutting it the on the long, folded it in half and using silver striping, created the outside lines according to the challenge. I love butterflies, so found a blue one that worked perfectly.
Thanks so much for stopping by!

Family

I would like to thank Mark's finest paper for this stamp set that I won a few challenges ago. I really did not know what I would do with it or how I would use it but this is the perfect place to showcase it...there's nothing more important than family.  I took a piece of cream card stock and cut it the tall way.  then I layered what I thought looked like an oldtime figured paper and then I use the stamp on cream card stock and then I found the clock sticker.

On the farm cows

This was really a fun challenge because we live in the middle of Iowa and my grandparents had a farm while I was growing up and we did a lot of things on the farm but some of my fondest memories are of milking cows with grandma and grandpa. For this challenge I actually had some card stock that is the background and so I just folded it in half and kept it fairly clean and simple I had a cow sticker and I stamped on white paper the sentiment and layered it on the brown paper and then use the little foam underneath the brown paper to raise it just a little bit

Purple birthday

I started with cream cardstock, I cut and layered a purple striped paper at an angle  on the cardstock and then Layed a thin strip of dark solid paper over the seam. I then used my scollop, leaf and star punches to created a 3D effect on the flower. I put a little stud in the center to hold it all together. Then stamped happy birthday on the cardstock.

The Farm

We live in very rural area of Iowa. While I did not grow up on a farm, my grandparents lived on the farm and we spent many days out there butchering chickens, feeding the cats and the pigs, walking out to the pasture to bring the cows home to milk them. ...and using the outhouse !!  The windmill was a very important part of the farm as it pumped the water to the barn for the livestock and to the house for our water....livestock always came first... It was their living. So many nights there was little or no water at supper time as the cattle were drinking.

This card was made on paper cardstock. I used my circuit machine to cut out the windmill. I Layed that on the card 1st. Then used a stamp from Northwoods to stamp on a dark green paper.
I tried to keep it clean and simple.

Coral birthday

I love the color coral and so decided to do this birthday card in one of my favorite colors...I started with White card stock layered on a coral textured paper but  ran strength around it before I secured it to the white paper. Then I found one of my favorite flower and stamps ...stamped in black and colored it with my tombow markers on white paper and took my black ink pad and just lightly edged the paper. I added a couple pearls and a happy birthday sentiment that I had and pop it up with just a little bit of foam. I really enjoy working with textured paper. I don't know if you can see it on this card that my white card stock is actually a textured paper and then the coral is also textured paper.. it just to me seems a little more elegant than plain paper.
Thanks for stopping by and have a blessed week :-)

Male happy birthday

it seems I always run short on ideas for cards for men...so got out my cuddbug and started embossing some wildlife things to make men's cards from. I started this one with white cardstock and layered on the grey embossed Cattails. Then found a strip of grey/ green paper and layer it across the top and found the duck stamp that had cattails to tie it all together. I found a scrap of light gray to layer on the happy birthday greeting. Thanks for stopping by...have a blessed week!

Sundae funday challenge

I really liked the colors in this challenge! Some of my very favorites. I started with the orange cardstock and cut it the long way and folded the card in thirds, with the large part of the card being the center. I then used the Swiss dot embossing folder and used white paper. I used an orange/peach striped paper, layered on a teal paper and the white, using my scallop and circle punches. I and these teddy bear and buggy stickers in my stash and that is how I finished off the card.

Colorful flowers

For this color challenge, I chose to start with a cream cardstock. I then found a paper than had most of the colors for the challenge on it ☺️ I layered the paper on and then folded over the top right corner, then put 2 punch holes through all  of the layers. I found a yellow ribbon, strung it through and tied a bow. I added a little bling On the top left top and the bottom right corner. I added the flower as the focal point.
Thanks for stopping by! Have a great week!

Welcome baby

I Really had fun with this challenge. I was looking for something a little different for a baby card and made this template a then adapted it into the card. I had the bib in my stash and so it played right into the challenge guidelines.
I studded the bottom and then added the bib. I Layed it on blue paper to take the picture ...but the card is actually just the onsie.
Thanks for stopping by and have. Great week!

Sunday color/stash challenge

I Loved the color palette in the challenge!!
I started with cream cardstock, then just started layering..which is one of my favorite things to do and it uses up smaller pieces of paper from my stash. My most favorite thing in my stash is stickers that I can embellish with. The photos show how I put this card together...

Tan Welcome

For this CAS welcome/tan challenge, I chose a cream cardstock and then I embossed my tan paper. I then went to my computer and printed out the word welcome as I could NOT find my stamp!! 😰
I decided to print it on the same cream cardstock that I started the card with. I then used my large punch that was almost the same pattern as the center of the embossed tan piece, cut it out and placed it in the center of the card.

http://addictedtocas.blogspot.com

Tan grass

Tan... I have a lot of tan things...paper, stamps, string, embellishments, but have never done a mostly all tan card! So I dug deep and used a cream cardstock and got out my light brown/tan ink and decided on a grass stamp and started stamping across the paper. I then found a scrap of tan paper and jeweled the ends ....love using bling..it's my favorite go to when making a card. My stash is so full that sometimes it's a hard decision!  Haha!! I then used a scrap of the cream cardstock and used my orange ink to stamp the sentiment so it would stand out just a bit.   Thanks for stopping by...have a great week!πŸ˜‰

Teal butterfly

I Really like the CAS challenge!  They are quick and I love the color chooses!!  Great job ladies! For this card I did layer, but kept tried to keep it simple. I did not have enuf of the colored paper to do just one layer...so the taupe went on the white and the butterfly was teal and yellow, so that fit the challenge. It looked too plain so I did add a little bling and layered the sentiment...hopefully it works for this challenge.

http://cascoloursandsketches.blogspot.co.uk/2016/07/colour-challenge-183.html

Round brown circles

This was a fun challenge. I like to use my punches, but don't often think to get them out...always an after thought! So after I layered a brown textured paper on the white cardstock, I used my white ink pad and stamped the circles and sentiment on the brown. Then layered 3 different sized scallop circle punches and stuck a pearl in the center. I also used a set of 3 pearls on the outside of one of the circle patterns.

Christmas trees

I Love Christmas trees! For this card I start with white cardstock. I layered a medium blue paper on and stamped these 4 trees on in a silver ink. I mirrored the same pattern for the sentiment. Plain and fairly simple.

Christmas in July

Christmas in July...what a great idea!πŸŽ…πŸŽ…πŸŽ…
I love snowmen and more often than not my cards end up to have some sort of snowman theme. For this card, I started with dark blue cardstock, on a layered a light blue. I studded the top left and bottom right with 3 white studs. I also love to layer!  So this has several layers of blue figured and solid blue paper in oblong and squares before the final snowman.

Teal beach

I chose to do this on white paper and run my teal and taupe ink pads across the paper to create a sea shore effect. I then stamped one of my favorite stamps onto the paper after the ink dried. I added the yellow butterflies to finish the challenge and add a little character.

Baby lion

Nothing better than celebrating the life of a new baby! We recently had a new baby boy join our family, so made this card to welcome him. I cut blue cardstock in 1/2 the long way. I used a blue polkadot ribbon across the top and bottom. I cut a large square from a darker blue and white polkadot. I embossed a dark blue paper and then used my large circle punch. I had this little lion in my stash and put in the center and finished it off with some small yellow buttons.

Friends

I'm not really a bird lover, but I do enjoy watching hummingbirds flit around. This is a very CAS card. I started with a light blue cardstock cut the tall way.  I took a light blue ink and made a very light strip thru the center of the white cardstock. I stamped my flower in the center of the card and then stamped the hummingbird and Friends. I used my Tombow markers to color the flowers and my clear gel pen to hilight the bird.

Miracle butterflies

I really like butterflies. These are stamped in 2 colors of blue on white cardstock that I layered on a baby blue paper. I cut my paper the long way...I am playing around with CAS cards and this is one. I added the jewels to dress it up a bit. It is very simple, but it can be used for any occasion.

Wings and things

I Recently got this stamp set  "close to my heart" and I love it!!
I was looking for something CAS and this was perfect!
I used a yellow cardstock and used my scalloped scissors to border white cardstock. I brushed my green ink pad across the bottom third of my white cardstock and a light blue across the top ...to create a grass and sky.
I let that dry a bit and stamped the little fence and used my Tombow markers to add a bit of color. I stamped the sentiment right ton the card as well.

I started with a cream cardstock, added a layered red paper on. I wrapped spring around the card and strung a large button thru and tied a bow... Tomsecure it all I used a bit of beacons glue to tack it all down. I cut out 3eaqual sized squares from our local want adds and glued those on the red papre. Besties

For this challenge I chose to color one of the digitals I won in a recent challenge from Crafty Gals Corner My Besties.
I started out with white cardstock. I glued my yellow lace all around  the outside edges of the card to create a picture t frame. I colored my digital print with markers from Tombow on cream cardstock. I glued that onto the white cardstock centering it in the middle of the card.

Embossing #434

For this challenge I made a thank you card. I started with white cardstock, cutting it the tall way this time. I embossed white paper in Swiss dot, used a punch and cut the 1 end. I then embossed a red paper with a checked. I layered the red on 1st, Then tied a white ribbon around the white Swiss dot and layered it on top.
I then used a small punch for the red, stamped my verse in red and layered that on the white.
I really like to emboss. I don't necessarily know that it is my trade mark..just think it adds to the card. I also love to layer. I think it gives the cards a lot of depth and character.

Gift card

For this monochromatic color challenge I made a gift card holder in shades of peach.
I started with a toilet paper roll. Flattened it and then found my paper choices. I covered the bottom end so the card does not slip thru. I then measured and cut a paper to wrap around the flattened roll and glued it. I then punched a hole thru all layers. I found a scrap of solid colored paper to match for the name tag, and punched a hole in that too. I found in my stash some peach ribbon to tie it all together. These are so fast and easy to make. Love doing them at Christmas time....it just adds a little personalization to the gift card or cash 😊

I chose my favorite color of purple for this challenge. I used cream cardstock and the rest is in pretty shades of purple.
I stamped the sentiment on the paper. And used a purple ribbon.

Single layer

This is a stamp from Northwoods. I stamped it on white paper in black ink.  Used my Tombow markers and a few colored pencils to create the effect. Also trimmed the card In Red ink and sponged a light sage green on the paper. I then outlined a few areas with my clear gel pen.

1 layer

This is one of my favorite stamps. It is from Northwoods.
I used Northwoods watercoloring paper and embossed in black my stamp. After letting it dry I used my Tombow markers and it started coming to life. I've used this stamp several times, used it for several different occasions, colored it in all different colors and I love them all!
Even though this watercoloring is new to me, I really like it and have used it quite a bit lately... New trademark???  Maybe!!☺️

Color challenge

For this challenge I was to use cucumber green, soft suede and eggplant. I used the soft suede for the background on the white cardstock card. I used my die cut and used the outline piece in eggplant for the frame. I took my leaf punch to make the green leaves to add a little on the bottom. I then had a little bird with all 3 colors and tucked it in the bottom.

Tie die

This was a fun tutorial challenge. I started with watercolor paper by Northwoods. I used permanent dye ink in light pink, purple and burgundy according to the tutorial. After it dried, I found a paper border that matched the coloring in the water color.
I then used my dye cuts to create the flower and added a pink gem in the middle. I added the party hat and lifted it up with foam and stamped the verse right on the paper.

Layered Exotics

I had to really dig deep in my paper stash to find these animals, but in the process I found a lot of cool stuffπŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰. Time to clean my room again?😬😬

I started with cream cardstock layered on a brown paper that looks like it's been courigated. I layered the animals on black paper, then on similar, but different colored figured paper.
I found some gold studs so put them in the upper right corner and stamped my verse right on the brown paper.
